“It’s a club. At the end of the night, we have created. Something. We didn’t know about this. But we seem to like it. Often.” – Gassmann
Welcome to kahu.club, where every performance is a unique journey and every musician is part of a dynamic musical conversation. In this club, we don’t just play music; we create it live, inspired by the moment. Risk is mandatory. As it should be.
1. Do the Right Thing
In kahu.club, doing the right thing means listening to each other, respecting the flow of the music, and honoring the collective spirit of the band. At the same time we aim at doing what is right – right now. We know that feeling.
2. Listen
Listening is at the core of our playbook. Every musician who joins kahu.club is encouraged to listen deeply—to the music, to each other, and to the energy of the audience. This principle ensures that every performance feels alive and responsive.
3. Let Us Shine
We believe in letting each musician shine in their own way. The playbook is designed so that any new member can step in and feel empowered to contribute creatively. We create space for individual expression within the collective sound.
4. Headroom by Convention
Our “headroom” is the flexibility built into our conventions. The playbook provides a framework but leaves plenty of room for improvisation. It’s not about rigid rules, but about giving everyone enough space to create something new each time.
5. It’s Not a Game
Finally, while we have fun, we also treat our music-making as something meaningful, serious and genuine. It’s not a game; it’s a shared art form. Each gig is an opportunity to create something real and resonant.
